Dr. Sacoby Wilson, PhD
FOUNDER & DIRECTOR
Dr. Sacoby Wilson is the Founder and Director of The Health, Environmental and Economic Justice (T.H.E. E.J.) Lab.
Dr. Wilson is a nationally recognized expert in environmental justice with over 25 years of experience in exposure science, environmental health disparities, community-based research, air quality monitoring, GIS, and climate change. He is a professor at the University of Maryland-College Park, where he collaborates with community organizations on environmental justice issues and mentors students.
Dr. Wilson leads the Mid-Atlantic Climate Action Hub, co-directs the US EPA Region III Thriving Communities Technical Assistance Center, and directs the Mid-Atlantic Environmental Justice Fund. He has worked on environmental justice issues nationwide, including air pollution, climate change, and industrial agriculture.
He serves on multiple professional boards, including the US EPA’s Science Advisory Board and the National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Wilson is also involved in several environmental justice organizations, including the Mid-Atlantic Justice Coalition and the DMV Environmental Justice Coalition.
Dr. Wilson has received numerous awards for his work, including the Sierra Club Robert Bullard Environmental Justice Award and the 2021 Maryland LCV Changemakers Award.
He holds a BS in Biology/Ecotoxicology from Alabama A&M University and a PhD in Environmental Health from University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
