Maryland Climate & Health Equity Mapper
The MD Climate and Health Equity Mapper is a state-level tool adapted to visualize context and issues surrounding climate change, equity, and health.
It is an interactive tool used for understanding, addressing, and mitigating the health impacts of climate change, with a specific focus on promoting equity and ensuring that vulnerable communities receive the support they need.
The Maryland Department of Natural Resources (MDNR), partnered with T.H.E. E.J. Lab, and the Center for Geospatial Information Science (CGIS) to create the tool.
The tool provides a composite score that helps to rank communities based on relative differences in climate-related burdens and risks. The various data is displayed on a map of Maryland census tracts.
The tool is divided into Six Domains:
(1) Climate & Health Equity
(2) Natural Disaster Risk
(3) Health Infrastructure
(4) Health Outcomes
(5)Vulnerability
(6) Community Resilience.
